Pool Visualiser

Pool Visualiser - Design Your Pool in 3D

Try out a new pool before you build it. Choose a shape and size, set the depths, pick a liner colour and add the extras you are thinking about, then send your design to Crystal Clear Pool Services in Tauranga.

Design Your Pool

The pool visualiser needs JavaScript. Please turn it on in your browser, or contact us and we will talk through your ideas.

How to Use the Pool Visualiser

The visualiser works through four steps, shown as tabs beside the 3D view, or under it on a phone. Start with the shape and size, set the depth, choose the liner, coping and surround, then add extras such as steps, a spa or lights. The pool redraws as you go. Drag the view to look at it from any side, switch to the top or poolside view, and try dusk or night to see the underwater lights.

Under the view you will find the water area, an approximate volume in litres, the perimeter and the deepest point, along with a plan and a long section drawn to your measurements. When you are happy, press Send this design to us. Your choices are added to the enquiry form at the bottom of this page, with a link that reopens the exact design. You can also copy that link to share with your family, or save a picture of the view.

Choosing a Shape, Size and Depth

Every pool in the visualiser has straight sides. A rectangle suits most sections and is the easiest shape for swimming laps, and an L-shape adds a second area beside the main pool that suits play or lounging.

The size presets are a starting point, from a plunge pool for a courtyard to a 15 metre lap pool, and the length and width sliders fine-tune the footprint.

Depth matters as much as size. A constant depth keeps the whole floor at one standing depth, a gentle slope gives you a shallow end for children and a deeper end for swimming, and separate shallow and deep zones keep more of the floor at a comfortable depth. Watch the volume as you change the depth. It is the water you will be filtering, heating and treating, so a smaller or shallower pool means less of all three.

Internal and External Steps and Benches

Entry steps and benches can be internal or external. Internal steps are built inside the line of the pool, full width across the shallow end or in a corner, and an internal bench runs along a wall. External steps and benches sit in a bay built out from the pool wall, so they take no swimming space.

In the visualiser, external steps sit in a bay off the shallow end and an external bench sits in a bay off the back wall at the deep end. The water area, volume and plan include each bay as you add it.

Liner Colours and Finishes

The interior colours are based on the Aqualux vinyl liner range, grouped into deep and architectural blues and charcoals, light and resort tones, and natural stone finishes. Darker liners make the water look deeper and bluer, while lighter liners give bright, clear aqua water. If a liner pool is what you have in mind, our page on Paramount liner pool builds and liner replacements explains how we approach them.

Colours on a screen are only a guide, and the same liner looks different in full sun, in shade and under water. Always look at a physical sample in daylight before you make a final choice. The coping and surround options show how the pool sits with travertine, sandstone, concrete, bluestone or charcoal paving, a hardwood deck or lawn.

Extras Worth Planning Early

Internal or external steps and benches, a sun ledge and a spa change the shape of the pool shell, so they are much easier to include from the start than to add later. Underwater lights, a heat pump and a cover with a roller need power, plumbing or space beside the pool, and a feature wall with a waterfall needs a pump and a solid footing, so they are worth deciding on at the design stage too.

Plan the barrier at the same time. In New Zealand, every residential pool or spa that can hold 400 mm of water or more needs a physical barrier that restricts access by unsupervised children under five, and the barrier needs a building consent. The safety guidance for pool owners from Building Performance explains what counts as a barrier and what the rules cover, so read it before you decide where your fence and gate will go.

From Your Design to a Real Pool

A visualiser cannot see your section. Ground conditions, access for machinery, drainage, power and the space you need around the pool all affect what will work, so treat your design as a brief rather than a final plan. We build in-ground pools in Tauranga and around the Bay of Plenty, and once your pool is finished we can look after it with regular pool maintenance and swimming pool valet services.
